Theatre and Cinema
Paris Theatre was a former cinema placed in Lower Regent Street, London, which was changed into a
theatre by the BBC for radio broadcasts. It was used for various decades by the BBC as the main
venue for the comedy programmes requiring an audience broadcast on BBC Radios 2 and 4.
The first of the post-war movie houses maked in Manhattan, the Paris Theatre is precisely
across from the Plaza Hotel and not much other from the beginning of Central Park.
Paris Theatre opened on September 13, 1948, with Marlene Dietrich cutting the ribbon in the
occurrence of the Ambassador to France. The real movie operator, Pathe, ran the theatre until
1990. Loew's then took over, and the theatre was known for a while as the Fine Arts Theatre.
Renamed the Paris Theatre, it is currently independently operated.

blue velvet walls and seating on the main floor and in the balcony. It has superior projection

of a Nightingale. Many other thriller plays that are loved by audience are Wait Until Dark,
Count Dracula, Deathtrap, The Mousetrap, Dial ”M” for Murder, Sleuth, Rehearsal for Murder etc.
Cinema is equally like by the people of the Paris and tourists as well. The Hollywood related films
are dominating in the Paris unlike the other world's global cities. French cinema has many famous
directors like Claude Lelouch, Jean-Luc Godard, Claude Chabrol and Luc Besson. European and Asian
movies are also widely shown in the city and also appreciated by the peoples. There are many samll
movie theaters and the viewer have choice from between around 300 old and the new movies from
diffrent parts of he world.
There is a large network of the movie theater in the city. When the media become very popular in
the Paris many dance halls were transformed into theaters. In the Paris one of the largest cinema
today is Le Grand Rex in which 2800 seats are there. Other cinemas in he city is having less than
1000 seats. Now the trends are changing multiplexes are taking the place of theater where
10 to 20 screens can be there in the same building.
